Gone Away, Five Finger Death Punch vs Offspring

I never paid attention to the lyrics if Offspring's song Gone Away, until I heard Five Finger Death Punch's cover of Gone Away.

I never paid attention, because Offspring's version is whiny and annoying. And it doesn't have feelings of sorrow.

Five Finger Death Punch's cover is understandable, and has more feeling.

I had a chance to listen closer to Offspring's version and now I appreciate it thanks to Five Finger Death Punch.

Offspring

Created a tasty salad dressing

I cooked 1 piece of turkey bacon, fried it until it was crisp. Tore it into bits. Set it aside.

Then I put in a salad bowl
-1 cap full of rice vinegar
-1 cap full of olive oil
- 3 shakes of curry powder
- 3 shakes of McCormick's Grill Mates Belgian-Style White Ale Seasoning
1 shake of dried onions

Added the bacon bits. Whisked all ingredients until all blended together.

Added salad greens. Tossed the green, until the greens were all coated.

Boy, did I get the lyrics wrong to this Creed song, One 

My version is (WAR), totally opposite of what the song is about.

How can I find my glasses, when I can't see?

I lost a pair of glasses. They were my everyday glasses. I have another pair of glasses for fun and backup.

I was shredding some paperwork. That's when I realized, I didn't have my glasses on, and didn't know where I left my glasses. It was the weekend night. I didn't have to go anywhere. I didn't need my glasses for driving or work.

I tore up the house looking for my glasses. I gave up. How can I find my glasses, when I can't see them?

The last time I wore my other glasses. I sat on them, bending the heck out of the frame, and popping out a lens. I found my other glasses, they weren't a wreck as much I thought they were.

I wore my second pair of glasses to work. I thought it would be too uncomfortable to wear safety glasses over these glasses.

I thought my regular glasses were lost forever. Maybe they got mixed up with the paper shreds and thrown away.

Another weekend, I was in search of something else. That's how I found my other glasses. My glasses were in a dusty corner, like they were there for months. I would have never guessed to look there.

I have this habit to take off my glasses to read or look at small stuff. And my regular glasses blend in with surroundings. That's why I lose my glasses sometimes.

This one was an unsolved mystery for 1 month. I was ready to buy another pair of glasses.

Wal-Mart scan and go

Have you been to Wal-Mart lately? Have you tried the scan and go?

I did. It's really easy. I like knowing my total while shopping. The problem is bagging as you go, and stopping to scan. That takes time and you take up room in the aisle. It's not a convenience when you in a hurry.


I noticed one thing Wal-Mart found new places to sell stuff, at each new self checkout station, Clever!

I was so afraid to try a new thing.

Bible reading February 17, 2018

I opened the Bible, this is where I landed.

1 Corinthians 14 New Living Translation (NLT) Tongues and Prophecy 14 Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives—especially the ability to prophesy. 2 For if you have the ability to speak in tongues,[a] you will be talking only to God, since people won’t be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit,[b] but it will all be mysterious. 3 But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them. 4 A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church. 5 I wish you could all speak in tongues, but even more I wish you could all prophesy. For prophecy is greater than speaking in tongues, unless someone interprets what you are saying so that the whole church will be strengthened. 6 Dear brothers and sisters,[c] if I should come to you speaking in an unknown language,[d]how would that help you? But if I bring you a revelation or some special knowledge or prophecy or teaching, that will be helpful.7 Even lifeless instruments like the flute or the harp must play the notes clearly, or no one will recognize the melody. 8 And if the bugler doesn’t sound a clear call, how will the soldiers know they are being called to battle? 9 It’s the same for you. If you speak to people in words they don’t understand, how will they know what you are saying? You might as well be talking into empty space. 10 There are many different languages in the world, and every language has meaning.11 But if I don’t understand a language, I will be a foreigner to someone who speaks it, and the one who speaks it will be a foreigner to me. 12 And the same is true for you. Since you are so eager to have the special abilities the Spirit gives, seek those that will strengthen the whole church. 13 So anyone who speaks in tongues should pray also for the ability to interpret what has been said. 14 For if I pray in tongues, my spirit is praying, but I don’t understand what I am saying. 15 Well then, what shall I do? I will pray in the spirit,[e] and I will also pray in words I understand. I will sing in the spirit, and I will also sing in words I understand. 16 For if you praise God only in the spirit, how can those who don’t understand you praise God along with you? How can they join you in giving thanks when they don’t understand what you are saying? 17 You will be giving thanks very well, but it won’t strengthen the people who hear you. 18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than any of you. 19 But in a church meeting I would rather speak five understandable words to help others than ten thousand words in an unknown language.

I learned this is true. If you don't hear the Word or hear the sermon in your language or in a way that you will understand, you will not get the message meant for you. 

I always wanted to attend a Spanish mass, celebrate mass the way Mexican do. When my church celebrated Christmas or Easter as bilingual mass, Spanish and English, when the Spanish speaking priest gave the sermon, I didn't understand his message. I do speak, read basic Spanish, and understand some spoken Spanish, I was too busy trying to decipher what the priest was saying to understand what the message was.

I once had an argument with a devoted Christian. I couldn't understand the Bible she gave me. It was full of unnecessary words. Jesus didn't speak like that. He spoke to us in ways we can understand. That Bible wasn't speaking to me in ways I can understand.

I believe the Bible, the Word speaks to each of us in ways we understand. Some screw it around, for bad. I believe the spirit will guide you to hear the true believer.
